stopped at a little wee park with nothing but picnic tables. walked and rode bikes to safeway to use the little agents room . bought soda pop and went back to the bus.
everything's all ascramble, we unloaded bikes and chariot and rode to lithia park where we drove around announcing the show (we needed a rehearsal and might as well) . spoke to the park ranger, got a (partial) go-ahead and proceeded to pull out all the stops in what would be ashland's very first bike dance extravaganza!
but alas! halfway through our first song ("get serious" by our good friends euromotion) one of ashland's finest demanded we halt the performance, much to the public's disappointment (we'd generated a crowd of dozens, including mothers with small children, cyclists, pedestrians, other parkgoers, punks and a solitary smurf!).
loaded back up, narrowly missing a parking ticket and got interviewed for the local ashland paper by bob the reporter (hippie: "hey bob! you got my phone call!" bob: "well, somebody told me to get down here." hippie: "from here, man." pointing at his head). traded a sprockettes peechee shirt for one with the legent "i <3 mormon pussy" off a guy's back.
drove south into the sunset, talking via the loudspeaker and waving from the skylight to cheering crowds.
thank you ashland!
